Next Metro – train times and timetable iPhone app and Android app

We’ve mentioned before about our collaborations with North East developer Alex Reid – Alex was responsible for porting our Ask the Hoff app from iPhone to Android – so we thought we’d show you our next project together.

Next Metro is for everyone who has ever ran for a Tyne and Wear Metro when they could have walked, ever walked when they should have run. It’s a mobile application for iPhone and Android that allows you to call up train times and timetable information for any platform at any station on the Tyne & Wear Metro, as well as interactive maps showing directions to your nearest station.

The network carries over 40 million passengers every year so this app would no doubt prove invaluable, not only to commuters but to visitors to Tyne & Wear from across the country and beyond. Alex showed the Next Metro timetable app to the attendees of SuperMondays and got a great reaction, so we wanted to share a few more screenshots to whet your appetite.

The Next Metro app isn’t available yet – we had a very positive meeting with Metro operators Nexus before Christmas and they’re currently looking over our proposals – we’ll let you know as soon as we have further news.
