Ask The Hoff hits the App Store this Friday!

UPDATE – Ask The Hoff is now available in the App Store! You can find it here, or search for it by name in the iTunes store, or on your iPhone or iPod Touch. If you do buy it and use Hoff’s all powerful guidance to seek salvation, please help us out by rating the app on iTunes. Thanks! P

Just a quick note to let you know that Ask The Hoff has been approved by Apple and will be available in the App Store from this Friday.

It wasn’t quite as smooth an approval process as we’d hoped; last Friday the app was rejected because Apple felt it may “ridicule” or “defame” a public figure, which contravenes developer guidelines. That wasn’t such a difficult barrier to overcome – we were easily able to prove that the app with made in conjunction with David Hasselhoff, his production company and his representatives – but then there are so many horror stories of developers who wait months, only to have their work rejected.

We’ve always felt if you approach Apple professionally then there’s rarely a problem, and we’ve never had any issues to date – I sent a reasonably exhaustive email detailing our arrangement on Friday, and Apple were back in touch with us on Monday. They asked us to resubmit the app so they could “expedite” the approval – it seems there’s a fast track for app reviews because less than 24 hours later, we received the thumbs up.

This is big news for us – it’s a silly, simple app but we’re hoping plenty of people have fun with it, not only in this country but around the world. We’re finishing off a PR campaign for both online and offline activity, so you should hear more about Ask The Hoff in the days to come. P
